The dish with low rounded sides rises to the
mouth rim gently indented to form six-lobes.
The cavetto of conforming shape encircles the
slightly sunken central medallion. It is covered
overall with brown lacquer applied with a
metal rim.

LOBED BOX AND COVER

YUAN DYNASTY, 14TH CENTURY

The rounded sides of the box and cover are
both formed by lobed sections and further
decorated with metal wires to depict leaf
lappets, covered overall in a brownish-black
lacquer except for the recessed base painted in
red.
