A RARE CREAMY-CELADON AND RUSSET JADE MODEL OF A MYTHICAL BEAST
SONG-MING DYNASTY (960-1644)
宋-明 青玉瑞獸
The robustly modelled beast is carved prowling with its head facing forwards. Its head has two short horns
and the body is decorated with fame-style designs. The tail is bifurcated and fnely detailed. The stone is
of a creamy celadon tone with some light russet inclusions.
