A CREAM AND DARK BROWN JADE FIGURE OF A CRANE
MING DYNASTY (1368-1644)
The pebble is carved as a recumbent crane, its legs well carved on the underside
and its head turned backwards as it grasps a leafy branch bearing two peaches in its beak.

Both the crane and peaches symbolize longevity and represent the wish,
“May the crane and peaches grant you one thousand years” (heshou qiansui).
