(b) The ‘and’ joins the act of witnessing with the acquisition of ability almost as a
simultaneous event.
(c) In Acts 2 Luke describes the immediate response by Jesus’ followers upon
encountering the Holy Ghost. Having received the ability to testify they
immediately began doing it.

(1) This signifies that Jesus’ followers would be witnesses to Jews in Jerusalem.
(a) Jerusalem was where the followers of Jesus were located.
(b) Jerusalem was the center of Jewish worship and commerce.
(c) Jerusalem was primarily a Jewish city.
(d) Jerusalem was the Jewish Capital.
(e) Luke illustrates through the first 7 chapters of Acts that the followers of Jesus
testified primarily to Jews in Jerusalem.
(2) This signifies that Jesus’ followers would not be witnesses exclusively to Jews in
Jerusalem.

in regions and to people beyond Jerusalem.

them, which at time was Rome.
