        Welcome to the first 2017 edition of Skaters Connect where we have updates and stories
        from across all disciplines of Rollersports.                                      Day Cup

        In December the SV AGM was held where we farewelled and thanked Melanie Zimmermann   improve Member Retention
        aka Bliss the outgoing Roller Derby Representative for her contribution to the SV Executive   in your club
        over 2016.  Bliss was integral in the development of the RD Return to Skate Policy recently     Liquor Licencing Laws –
        released and has worked tirelessly over the years to support and grow Roller Derby in   how do they affect your

                                                                                           New Child Safe Standards
        One Roller Derby representative nomination for was received from Rebecca Taylor better   for Victoria – affects Roller
        known in the derby community as Alabama Hurley who hails from Hobart Tasmania.  Bama is
        a long time identity in the derby community and has been an invaluable contributor to SV   Sports
        over many years in a number of volunteer roles including Bendigo Rebellion Tournament     Membership Rewards
        Director for 3 years.  Bama brings a wealth of knowledge and experience within the sporting   program – you could be a
        world to the Executive.  There were no other changes to Executive member positions.   lucky winner!

        Call for nominations for the Wayne Maslen Award will be announced in our August edition.
        In this edition we reiterate SV’s commitment to helping Victorian clubs to conform to the new
                                                st
        Child Safe Standards that came into effect as on 1  January 2017.  This has been a major
        project with research and development by policy developer Cat Murray to ensure that our
        clubs are once again provided with the highest level of membership services.

        One of the biggest challenges of sporting organisations is to keep their members informed as
        such we are providing individual members the opportunity to subscribe directly to receive

        for the Roller Hockey Australia Day Cup and SV Speed Branch travel grant.
