Hangman’s Knot (noose)

The most notorious sliding loop of all time, the hangman’s
knot, or noose, is able to support very heavy weights
and the hard jerk when a large load is suddenly applied.
Even with heavy use, the noose unties—but not always
with great ease. It does not actually slide with great ease
either, and the more turns of the rope around itself during
tying, the less easily it slides.
