The slipknot, also known as the simple noose, can be tied
in any type of cordage material, be it synthetic or natural
fiber. It works well as the start of a lashing. Although
included with camping knots, this one may be useful
to climbers and boaters too. This knot appears to be an
overhand with a draw loop. However, in an overhand
with draw loop, the working end forms the loop. In a
slipknot the standing part forms the loop.
