SAFEGUARDING OUR ENVIRONMENT

                                    ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY (LOCAL)

A key part of safeguarding the environment is making choices and accepting tradeoffs. But, unfortunately, our
youths are becoming increasingly used to distinguishing between ‘needs’ and ‘wants’, especially regarding
the environment. Developing the latest technology to benefit humanity while ensuring that our natural
environment remains intact is part of this delicate balance.

The NYAA works with many organisations, including corporate sponsors, to raise public awareness and
participation in environmental advocacy. These take place in Singapore, around the region, and beyond.
Through various workshops, seminars, and immersion programmes in collaboration with other organisations,
the NYAA helps empower our youths. We believe that knowledge needs to meet passion for effective action.
The following are some of the highlights:

            • Agriculture 4.0 Webinar on Accelerating
Digital Technologies in Food and Agriculture
                Sector Forum 2022
NYAA played an active role in environmental
sustainability at the United Nations Environment
Assembly and chaired the United Nations
Environment South East Asia Youth Environment
Network. In addition, it provided resources to many
ASEAN member nations through our vast network of
            expertise.

            • “Accelerating Digital Technologies in Food
                and Agriculture Sector
Mr Eugene Seah, Deputy Chairman, NYAA Council,
and an NYAA Gold Award holder (1995 cohort), was
invited by the NYAA to deliver the keynote address
on “Accelerating Digital Technologies in Food and
Agriculture Sector at the Bogor Agriculture University
            on 15 January 2022.

More than 300 students and lecturers attended the
virtual seminar online. They asked many questions
after the keynote address. The online audience well
received Mr Seah’s sharing. This was one way the
NYAA added value and contributed to our ASEAN
            partners.

            • Close Partnership and Collaboration between
                NParks & NYAA
Close Partnership and Collaboration between NParks
and NYAA. NParks Board and NYAA have worked
closely since our inception in 1992. Many students
have benefited from this partnership and cooperation
over the years. One of the new initiatives by NParks
was The Green Friends Forum (GFF) 2022.

NYAA and NParks conducted a programme series for
students in March, April, and May. In addition, NYAA
helped to promote the Green Friends Forum. Many
NYAA Operating Partners were very supportive of this
            initiative.
