• Shell Forum 2022 on Energy Sustainability
Two NYAA leaders in sustainability spoke at the
Shell Forum on Energy Sustainability on Friday, 21
January 2022. They were Prof. Jeff Obbard, NYAA
Climate Change Adviser, and Ms Cheryl Lee, an NYAA
Environmentalist and NYAA Gold Award Holder (2017
cohort). Mr Viswa Sadasivan, Chief Executive Officer,
Strategic Moves Pte Ltd, and a Member of the NYAA
Council moderated the discussion. The forum was
attended by the senior leadership of Shell from the
region and senior officials from the Singapore Civil
Service.

The audience attending the forum in person was
impressed with the NYAA speakers who played a
constructive role in tackling the climate crisis.

• National Parks Volunteers’ Programme
Many NYAA Gold Award holders played a key
leadership role in the National Parks Volunteers
Programme. They contributed their expertise by
conducting a workshop to raise students’ awareness
of the importance of nature conservation and
protecting our environment. In addition, NYAA Young
Photographers’ Network Members conducted many
photography workshops on capturing nature at its
best around Singapore.

• NParks-NYAA Youth Steward in Nature
Workshop
The Youth Steward for Nature (YSN) programme
collaborated with NParks and NYAA in January 2022.
More than 150 students from secondary schools,
ITE, junior colleges, polytechnics, and universities
attended the workshops from January to July 2022.

The students worked very hard in groups, from
designing and planting therapeutic gardens and
running green programmes for schools and the
community to creating a DIY nature trail guide. NParks-NYAA Youth Steward in Nature Workshop 2022.

• YSN Certificate Presentation Ceremony
The YSN Certificate Presentation Ceremony was held
on 2 July 2022 at the HortPark and graced by Mr
Desmond Lee, Minister for National Development.
The NYAA Executive Director joined Minister Lee
at the ceremony and viewed the project exhibition
afterwards.
