               COMPLETING YOUR C.V.




            WHEN COMPLETING APPLICATIONS FORMS OR A C.V. AIM TO

                Read thoroughly all the notes on the application form and make sure
                 you understand what is required.

                Make a photocopy so that you can do a rough copy, this can be kept
                 as part of your preparation for the interview.

                Put the right information in the right sections

                Use every space effectively: a neat layout creates a good impression

                Ensure your handwriting is legible

                Check your spelling and grammar

                Draft answers to questions where personal views or long narratives
                 are called for and then copy the final wording onto the form when
                 you are satisfied with it

                Answer  any  questions  on  interests  and  spare  time  activities  by
                 describing briefly your involvement in the main ones rather than by
                 just giving a long list

                Be concise - employers have no time to read rambling dissertations

                Enclose a short covering note with the application form highlighting
                 any  points  especially  relevant  including  sources  of  any
                 advertisement or reference number

                When applying by C.V. these points are just as valid but you may
                 wish to attach a covering letter which should highlight the reasons
                 why  you  are  applying  for  the  post  and  indicate  the  qualifications,
                 experience and qualities which you can bring to the job
