COMPLETING YOUR C.V.
WHEN COMPLETING APPLICATIONS FORMS OR A C.V. AIM TO
Read thoroughly all the notes on the application form and make sure
you understand what is required.
Make a photocopy so that you can do a rough copy, this can be kept
as part of your preparation for the interview.
Put the right information in the right sections
Use every space effectively: a neat layout creates a good impression
Ensure your handwriting is legible
Check your spelling and grammar
Draft answers to questions where personal views or long narratives
are called for and then copy the final wording onto the form when
you are satisfied with it
Answer any questions on interests and spare time activities by
describing briefly your involvement in the main ones rather than by
just giving a long list
Be concise - employers have no time to read rambling dissertations
Enclose a short covering note with the application form highlighting
any points especially relevant including sources of any
advertisement or reference number
When applying by C.V. these points are just as valid but you may
wish to attach a covering letter which should highlight the reasons
why you are applying for the post and indicate the qualifications,
experience and qualities which you can bring to the job
