To begin the first round of tucks, insert one painted pair under the adjacent
unpainted pair on the standing part of the mated rope and cinch tightly, then
insert a pair of unpainted strands under the neighboring painted pair. Next, tuck
the remaining painted pair and the remaining unpainted pair in the same manner,
completing one round of tucks. Continue with additional tucks until 1½ inches
(38 mm) of strands remain, and then repeat the procedure for the other side.
