2.4.4.2.3 Flow Rate Profile
As discussed in the “Filling Time”, the flow rate is determined by the input “Filling Time”. If desired, the
user may choose to profile the “Flow Rate” to match the settings from a process sheet. In this case, the
area under the graph represents the volume of the geometry and the proportions would be derived by
evaluating the times when faster or slower fill should occur.
Typically, the “Flow Rate” profile will be adjusted to ONE step for the entire filling stage. If the profile is
set this way, then the input value does not matter because there is no variance in the flow rate. Use the
“Section No.” to reduce the number of profile sections.
2.4.4.2.4 Injection Pressure Profile
The “Injection Pressure Profile” serves as a safety factor for the simulation on top of the “Maximum
Injection Pressure” set before. The percentage set here will further limit the filling, meaning that the
simulation is more likely to become pressure limited if the maximum pressure is reached.
Previous, it was recommended to set the “Maximum Injection Pressure” to 250MPa. For example, if the
“Injection Pressure Profile” is set to 70%, then the simulation’s ceiling would now be 175MPa.
For most Flow analysis simulations, the “Injection Pressure Profile” will be set to 100% to avoid pressure
limiting the simulation.
