God’s servants in the power of the Holy

Spirit, and New Testament believers were

saved at the moment they responded to the

enlightening, convicting, and drawing of the

Holy Spirit to salvation through Christ. Jesus

said in John 6:44, “No man can come to me,

except the Father which hath sent me draw

him . . .” It’s impossible to savingly believe

the Gospel of Christ unless God the Father

prepares a person’s heart (referred to as

“the good ground” in Luke 8:15) and draws

that person by the Holy Spirit to faith in

Christ’s shed blood for the forgiveness of

sins.

And believers in New Testament times and

in the early years of the church age knew

that there would be a price to pay
