         ENG (electronic news gathering)

Use of electronic equipment such as video cameras, lighting and
sound equipment to record news events in the field quickly, conveniently,
and efficiently is termed as electronic news gathering..

         Depth of field

Depth of field is termed as the area in which all objects, located at
different distances from the camera, appear in focus. This varies with
subject-to-camera distance, focal length of camera lens, and camera’s
         aperture setting.

         Boom

Boom is an extension arm used to suspend a
microphone or camera over subject(s) being
recorded. It’s main objective is to keep production
gear out of a camera’s view.

         Booming
Booming is the movement of the camera arm above or below subject

with the aid of a balanced “boom arm,” This creates a creating sense of
floating into or out of a scene. The advantage is that a combination of
pan, tilt and a pedestal camera can be achieved in one fluid movement.

         Cardioid

This is the most common type of unidirectional
microphone. The pickup pattern resembles a heart-
         shaped figure.
