Cl . But, do not change the prescription. Observe CaCO3 precipitate in the solution. DO NOT filter
the solution, so prepare 500 mL. Send the preparation for sterilisation.

METHOD
DO NOT FILTER THE SOLUTION 500 mL
Prepare for 550 mL INTRAVENOUS INFUSION
1. Weigh all salts. Sodium ion 112 mmol/L (112 mEq/L)
2. Dissolve the salts separately Calcium ion 34 mmol/L (68 mEq/L)
Acetate ion 88 mmol/L (88 mEq/L)
3. Mix the solutions Chloride ion 68 mmol/L (68 mEq/L)
4. Add water for injection to 550 mL. Bicarbonate ion 24 mmol/L (24 mEq/L)
5. Transfer 500 mL the solution into infusion as
bottle. Sodium acetate 1.2 %w/v
6. Close the bottle Sodium bicarbonate 0.2 %w/v
7. Sterilise the solution by autoclaving at Calcium chloride 0.5 %w/v
Temperature 121–123 °C; Pressure 1.05
2
kgf/cm ; Time for 15 minutes For intravenous infusion as directed by the physician
Do not use if solid particles are present
8. Label the preparation. Store below 25°C
To be used on one occasion only and any remaining
solution discarded
Do not use if seal or over cap is opened or removed.
