Workstation Assessment Procedure




               Linked to: Safety and Wellbeing Policy

             10     Implements any recommendations relating to work practice     Employee
                    changes and work station adjustments and seeks support from
                    manager if required.

             11     Arranges for the procurement and installation of any approved   Manager
                    equipment.
                    Note:

                    •  All equipment costs are met by the business unit.
                    •  Medical information may be requested to support the
                       recommendation if equipment recommended is non-standard
                       and of significant cost.  In this case contact the Injury
                       Management Advisor. See:  Workstation Assessment for staff

            Workstation assessment for staff experiencing discomfort, injury or illness

            The following process outlines the requirements for staff experiencing discomfort, injury or illness.

             Step  Activity                                                      Who
             1      Informs supervisor/manager about any injury or discomfort they   Employee
                    consider to be directly related to their workstation or work and
                    submits an incident report on POSSUM.
             2      •  Contacts Injury Management Advisor and discusses          Employee
                       concerns/issues and steps to take to resolve the issue.

                    •  Provides medical information to supervisor/manager if
                       restrictions at work are required or seeking adaptation to a
                       workstation.

             3      •  Reviews all aspects of the impact of the injury or illness on the  Injury Management Advisor
                       employee’s role including workstation setup, job demands,
                       injury status and work restrictions.

                    •  Recommends immediate modification of duties and/or
                       workstation taking into consideration any medical
                       recommendations.

             4      •  Considers the need for a workstation assessment in        Injury Management Advisor
                       consultation with the manager taking into account the
                       complexity and degree of injury or illness.

                    •  Considers which of the following is the most appropriate
                       course of action:

                       o  advising the employee to follow the Workstation Self-
                           Assessment for Existing Employees process
                       o  arranging to assess the workstation with the employee
                           and the  manager.
                    Note: Where practical this assessment should take place within 7
                    working days from the time of notification.
