Workstation Assessment Procedure

1 Discusses the potential of working from home with manager. Employee
Refer to: Flexible Work Policy, Flexible Work Procedure and
Flexible Working Pack for further information.
2 • Considers the request as per the requirements of the Flexible Manager
Work Policy and Flexible Work Procedure.
Refer to: Flexible Working – Manager’s quick guide and Flexible
working pack for more information.
• Requests the employee to complete the Home Based Work
Safety Checklist if working from home is agreed in principle.
Note: The checklist should be completed before the working from
home arrangements commence.
3 • Identifies a suitable workstation environment at home. Employee
Note: Provide a photo of the work space if possible to assist the
manager to confirm that a safe work environment can be
provided.
• Identifies equipment required.
Note: Funding for equipment can be considered by the manager
taking into account the period of time working from home and the
reasonableness of providing equipment.
4 • Reviews the following documents: Employee
o Officewise 2006- Appendix A – Setting up your
workstation
o Officewise 2006 - Appendix B – Exercises for Office
Workers.
• Completes and signs the Home Based Work Safety Checklist
then provides it to their manager with supporting information.
5 • Reviews the Home Based Work Safety Checklist and Manager
supporting information and considers the employee’s request
to work from home.
Note: A copy of the completed checklist is to be put on the
employee’s personnel file.
• Considers the reasonableness of providing any standard
equipment requested in accordance with the Home Based
Work Telecommuting Checklist.
Note:
• If the employee and manager are uncertain about the set up
and would like a professional assessment to make sure of the
safety of the home environment then refer to Workstation
assessment as a wellbeing intervention. This may be relevant
if working from home arrangements are on a regular or full
