Thai people are ethnically, culturally and religiously diverse. As such, there are many
enduring and traditional events and festivals to share and experience. While some
cultural events are celebrated nationwide, others are uniquely local. The largest and
most celebrated events in Thailand are the Songkran Festival, Loy Krathong and the
               Chak Pra Festival.
               Songkran (Water Festival)
Songkran Festival is a celebration of the Thai New Year. There are many subtle and
reverent traditions associated with the true meaning of Songkran that are followed by
locals. Nearly everyone, however, also joins in the festivites of what has become the
biggest, longest and most enjoyable holiday in Thailand and maybe in the world!
Songkran is also known as ‘The Water Festival’ for good reason as it turns into a
nationwide three-day water fight occuring during the hottest time of the year. Music,
dancing, drinking and people drenched from head to toe are features during this
multi-day splash-fest. Water guns, hoses, buckets – anything you can get your hands on
               - can be used to splash people from the roadside or even from the back of trucks
rolling through the villages. Roads are closed for the celebration and in some places it
is impossible to go anywhere without getting wet. No matter where you are in Thailand,
during three days in the middle of April you will be within walking distance of fun,
celebration and a lot of water!
                                                                                                             Choeng Mon

                                                                                               Maenam Beach Beach

                                                                                                               Chaweng

                                                                                                                Siver
                                                                                Taling Ngam Lamai
                                                                                  Beach Beach
               Maenam Beach
Excellent views of Koh Phangan, silky sand and resorts located at the end of long
rambling pathways providing privacy unavailable elsewhere all contribute to the sleepy
atmosphere of Mae Nam Beach. This is what Samui was like decades ago. With more
bustling areas of the island within reach, the balance of serenity and convenience
               makes Mae Nam Beach special.
               Bophut Beach
Bophut Beach encompasses several kilometers between Big Buddha and Maenam
Beach. The beach features the historic and charming Fisherman's Village, located
midway, with a weekly walking street /evening market that wakes up the otherwise
               quiet, sleepy town of Bophut.
               Choeng Mon Beach
Choeng Mon beach is one of the less bustling beaches of Koh Samui and is made up of
a series of bays on the north-western tip of the island. Most of the activities o ered are
the in-house activities o ered by the beach resorts, leaving few options for other
               tourists.

               Chaweng Beach
Koh Samui's busiest and biggest towns is also one of the island's best beach locations.
As well as o ering more accommodation options than anywhere else on the island,
Chaweng is also nightlife central with bars and restaurants catering to every taste. From
ultra-casual beachside establishments to sophisticated cocktail bars, Chaweng's
nightlife options are unmatched on Samui.

               Lamai Beach
Lamai Beach is Samui's second-largest resort area after Chaweng to it’s north. It is
quieter and less bustling, but with plenty of accommodation, dining and shopping
options, great spas and tourist sites to explore.

               Silver Beach
The 250 meter long tropical Silver Beach is a much smaller Koh Samui beach, set in a
charming little bay. It is located between Lamai and Chaweng beaches. The four beach
resorts, viz. Crystal Bay Beach Resort, Crystal Bay Yacht Club, Silver Beach Resort, and
Thongtakian Resort, occupy the full length of the beach.

               Taling Ngam Beach
Covered with pristine jungles, the Taling Ngam beach is the most picturesque Koh
Samui beach. It o ers stunning views of Angthong Marine National Park, in addition to
options of cheap bungalows and seafood restaurants.

               Nathon Beach
Nathon is the island's main port and departure point for excursions to Koh Tao, Koh
               Phangan and the mainland.
