ONLINE LEARNING OF RESEARCH METHODS COURSE DURING
           COVID-19 PANDEMIC: OBSTACLES ENCOUNTERED, CAUSES AND
                             STRATEGIES TO OVERCOME

                 Abstrak: Online learning during Covid-19 pandemics era remains problems in
                 the learning process, included Research Method Course. Online learning during
                 Covid-19  pandemics  era  remains  problems  in  the  learning  process,  included
                 Research Method Subject. The present study was qualitative research by using a
                 case study design. The study population was fourth semester English Education
                 students  who  had  attended  Quantitative  Research  in  ELT  and  Qualitative
                 Research in ELT courses. The informants of this study were 10 students who
                 had difficulty following the two courses. The research data were collected using
                 interview  techniques  via  telephone.  The  telephone  interviews  were  recorded.
                 Furthermore, the recordings are transcribed and analyzed by following stages of
                 qualitative  data  analysis—data  condensation,  data  display,  and  drawing
                 conclusions and verification suggested by Miles, Huberman and Saldana (2014).
                 The  results  showed  that  there  were  four  main  problems  faced  by  students,
                 namely  (1)  mastering  the  learning  material,  (2)  completing  assignments,  (3)
                 interacting with lecturers in the learning process, and (4) lack of online learning
                 facilities. In addition, students also have four strategies used to overcome the
                 problems,  namely  (1)  asking  friends  and  lecturers,  (2)  reviewing  learning
                 materials  more  in  sourcebooks  and  notes,  (3)  looking  for  videos  of  relevant
                 learning  material  on  You  Tube,  and  (4)  find  a  thesis  that  is  relevant  to  the
                 assignment and adapts the thesis component to the group assignment.
