Chapter 3 General Repairs

Spot Free (RO)

Membrane Cleaning
Clean the membrane with Muriatic acid (swimming pool acid). Follow the steps below:
11) Replace the float plug.
Note: If the storage tank is full, it will be necessary to jumper the float plug.

12) Run the system in this mode for 20 minutes.
13) Remove the float plug or jumper.
14) Open the reject needle valve(s) all the way.
15) Close off the re-circulation gate(s) valve.
16) Replace the float plug or jumper.
17) Run the system in this mode for 10 minutes.
18) Open the re-circulation gate valve(s) two full turns.
19) Slowly close the reject valve(s) until the reject flow meter(s) show the correct flow. See the chart
below.
20) Open or close the re-circulation gate valve(s) until the pump pressure is correct. See the chart
below.
21) The water quality light is probably off. Wait for it to come back on before reattaching the product
line to the storage tank.
22) After two cleanings, if membrane(s) performance is still unacceptable, it may be necessary to
replace the membrane(s). See the next page.
