Carbon Tank

Tank Head
Carbon
1/4” Pea Gravel
The main function of the carbon tank is to remove/absorb chlorine. The RO membrane cannot tolerate even small
amounts of chlorine.
Organic Matter: the carbon tank also removes organic compounds. Excessive organic matter may cause fouling of
the membrane.
Back Flush
Free-floating particulate in the water supply can plug the carbon tank and reduce or stop the flow of water. Back
flushing the tank helps to prevent this and extends the life of the carbon in the tank. The tank head is
preprogrammed to automatically back flush every 7 days.
Exchanging Carbon
The life of the carbon in the tank is 12 to 18 months. The 1/4” pea gravel and the carbon in the tank should be
replaced approximately yearly. After replacing the pea gravel and carbon, run water through the tank to discharge
until it is clear for 30 seconds before hooking unit back up.
