Chapter 3 General Repairs
Spot Free (RO)
Membrane Replacement
To replace the membrane(s) follow these steps:
1) Turn the system off.
2) Wait for the tap pressure to go to zero.
3) Remove the white snap ring from the top end cap of the membrane housing.
Note: It may be necessary to insert a 1/2” (13 mm) PVC pipe nipple threaded into the end cap and
use a tee as a handle to pop the cap loose.
4) Reach inside the housing. Grab the center tube and pull straight up to remove the membrane.
5) Unwrap the new membrane.
Note: Please note the flow direction arrow on the housing and the membrane itself.
6) Put the membrane back in its housing so that the direction of flow matches the picture
below.

7) Press down gently on the membrane;
Note: The membrane will engage the O-rings in the bottom end cap.
8) Replace the top end cap large O-ring, put this O-ring in its groove in the housing.
9) Replace the end cap, pressing it down until the internal O-rings in the top engage the center tube
of the membrane.
10) Replace the white snap ring.
11) Turn the system on, check for leaks and readjust the flows and pressures as detailed in chart on
the previous page.
