Inside the Pods
Replacement of a Cylinder

6) Install the new cylinder onto the machine. See the image below (repeated from Step 2 for your
convenience). Connection to

Pneumatic Fittings Driver Side Entrance Wheel Cylinder Ref
Use the shoulder bolt at the connection between he clevis and lever arm.
Use the 1-1/8” bolt at the connection between the cylinder and the machine.
Note: Make sure to include the white plastic washers on the cylinder clevis bolt.
7) Route the airlines the same way they were routed previously.
Note: Recall from Step 1 which color airline goes to which fitting and how the lines are routed.
Hook up the Reid switch.
8) Refer to the section in the startup portion on setting the cylinder Reid switches
Test the top wheel to make sure the Reid switch is in the correct place.
If it is not adjust it accordingly.
9) Turn on the main water and air to the machine.
Entrance Cylinder
The entrance cylinder in each pod is a double ended cylinder. The shorter stroke (2”) end of the
cylinder is pneumatic and used for rapid movement of the arm when performing the wig wag on
the back of the car. The longer stroke (4”) end of the cylinder is hydraulic and uses an air over
oil system for smooth controlled movement of the wheel when penetrating the side of the car.
1) Turn off the main air and the main water supply.
Note: Take a note of the color airline to each fitting, airline routing and Reid switch wiring.
