Family-types
Families are objects that are used in Revit.
A Family can contain 2D and/or 3D graphics. Family's can be divided into three groups:
System Families
Component Families
In-Place Families
Type Properties
Here you can see "Family" and "Type".
System Families
System Families are predefined in Revit. That can either be deleted or created new System
Family, but based on existing types you can create new variants.
Creating System Family takes place in dialogue boxes, and exist only in the current project, but
may, however, be loaded into new projects using
Manage ► Settings ► Transfer Project Standards
System Family is, for example, walls, roofs, decks, ceilings, stairs, ramps, cable trays, empty
tubes for wires, ducts and pipes. System Family are objects that can "host" other objects – look
under the section element types. System Family can also be annotation elements as
dimensions and Levels.
