Chapter 11 Chapter 10 EXERCISE • CHEATING • EXCUSES
Obesity And EXERCISE
As Dr. Selby told me (PAGE: 17) Lose the weight first – then exercise or risk a heart attack.
Therefore, our objective is: FIRST, get the weight gone. Then you can do whatever exercise suits you best.
BUT TO FEEL BEST, IMPROVE YOUR CIRCULATORY SYSTEM WITH 3 10+ MINUTES DAILY OF NON-
STRENUOUS WALKING. Walking dramatically helps your circulatory system take nutrients to your organs &
cells and then REMOVES the harmful TOXINS from your weight loss as well as YOUR VISCERAL FAT.
Walking also helps increase your BRAIN (memory & learning) along with most other parts of your body.
WALKING IS NOT “EXERCISE” as it’s enjoyable. Walking tones your body – Eating less slims your body.
let’s be REAL CLEAR: EXERCISE IS NOT THE WAY TO LOSE WEIGHT. To lose 1 pound of
body fat you would need to walk 35 miles. That would take you roughly 18 hours to lose 1 pound.
Unless you’re trying to be a professional athlete; to do something FOREVER needs be to simple and enjoyable.
BECAUSE I HATE EXERCISING – here’s what I do (and have done for the last 45 years): I DO NOT EXERCISE.
You See: WALKING IS THE PERFECT NON-EXERCISE. It’s both enjoyable and easy to do and has more health
benefits than jogging, weight-lifting or most gym exercises. AND IT’S FREE. (But you may need an umbrella.)
As I still love a good cup of coffee (cream, no sugar), my wife and I go for a coffee EVERY day AND THAT’S NOT
EXERCISE. Now the coffee shop we chose just happens to be one and a half miles from our home. (I Googled
it.) That’s a 30-40 minute slow walk each way. Along the way, we look at the trees, birds, flowers, wave at
strangers AND THEY ALL WAVE BACK. We’ve made MANY friends doing it. We also see more and more people
walking the same route than when we first started. If we see a piece of paper or empty can, we pick it up and
put it where it belongs. We love a clean path AND THAT IS GREAT EXERCISE. Because I never consider our
walk anything other than going for a coffee, time goes by quickly and we enjoy every minute. If either she or I
don’t feel like going, the other insists because the coffee shop employees are expecting us. We’ve moved
several times and we always find at least one coffee shop roughly on that 1 to 1.5 mile mark every time.
OH – I forgot – when we leave the house, sometimes I sort of feel like I don’t want to do this because (I always
have a great excuse) but by the time we get back, I’m full of energy and as happy as a school boy.
