Size of the Animation Character, and Game Industries, by Business Model
The animation, character, and game industries can be divided into three
categories according to their business models: (1) Original content producers/IP
owners, (2) Outsourced service providers, and (3) Distributor, Importer, Licensing
agent

From table 3, we can see that the biggest portion of the revenue of Thai
digital content industries was from distributor, importer, and licensing agent. In 2016,
distributor, importer, and licensing agent owned 50%, 93%, and 96% of total market
share in animation, character, and game industry respectively. This demonstrates
that digital content industry has been driven significantly by this segment. In
animation industry, outsourced service also contributed a significant portion of the
revenue. Outsourced service revenue grew 8.2% from 2015 and contributed 47% of
total market share in 2016. The revenue from outsource service in character and
game industry, however, was only the small portion.
