THE FOREST MUSEUM
The history of the establishment of the museum
is related to Enrikas Juzeliūnas, the then director
of the forest enterprise, who had the horns of the
auroch – the ancient Lithuanian forest animal, fo-
und on the slopes of the Dubysa river. These were
about 2000-year-old horns – an extremely rare and
interesting exhibit that was also evaluated by Prof.
Tadas Ivanauskas. Together with the Directorate of
Tytuvėnai Regional Park, the forest enterprise takes
care of the management of the museum’s display
and supplements it with new exhibits. Today, the
museum invites to admire an interesting collection
of garden and forest birds, get acquainted with fo-
rest animals and their way of life, evaluate the great
diversity of insects in this area, and admire the woo-
dwork of local folk craftsmen.
Excursions in the Forest Museum are led by the staff
of Tytuvėnai Regional Park, if they are booked in
advance.
