What would you like your experience to be here at VCU?
I would like my experience here at VCU to go beyond being a number amongst the numerous/vast
student body. I would like to leave an impact on this institution, identify a deficit, and create a viable
solution. I would like my experience here at VCU to grant me more than a medical doctorate degree; I
want to be more transformed, to grow, while changing the environment around me as well.

What has your experience been here at VCU?
My experience at VCU is unique as I’ve been a part of the MCV campus as both an employee and
student. I’ve dually seen how dedicated the faculty and staff are to improving the student experience
and how challenging it is as a student to take advantage of opportunities outside of academics. But
those moments – the case competitions, the rural health service projects, the class Super Bowl party,
that one credit IPE class you’ve thought about taking – make time for those moments because that is
what enriches the student experience. VCU sees the layers of my identity – student and beyond.
What would you like your experience to be here at VCU?
I would like my academic experience at VCU to be more contemporary and integrated with other health
professional students. We study the business of healthcare. WE are embarking on a career of supporting
clinicians and we are surrounded by future clinicians yet we area never once required to take a class
together in our 2 years of study here.

What has your experience been here at VCU?
There needs to be more diversity co‐curricular activities to promote diversity and acceptance. VCU is a
welcoming school; however there is always room for change, especially among our faculty and deans of
our schools. I have to say a lot of our faculty is supportive of diversity and welcoming, however some are
openly against diversity and that is disgraceful in a medical field.
What would you like your experience to be here at VCU?
It would be great to have classes that teach how to stand up against micro‐aggression in a
graceful way and how to promote acceptance.
There should be a required training module yearly for all employees & staff of the hospital.

What has your experience been here VCU?
My experience here at VCU has been great so far. I have met lots of wonderful, welcoming people and
everyone has been kind. However, I find most of my class (second‐year pharmacy) is racially split,
whether by choice or just randomly, I'm not sure. It makes getting to know other people difficult
sometimes. Despite everything, all the students and professors are very approachable and nice!
