EG - 116 Engine section – Engine (Cummins ISF3.8)
Precautions
1. Safety Precautions
a. Do not smoke while repairing the fuel system. Do not overhaul in the vicinity of the open flame. Ventilate
the maintenance site and prepare the corresponding fire-extinguishing equipment.
b. If the fuel system is pressurized, wrap the joint with a rag before opening the system, and then open it
carefully for pressure relief.
c. Before checking the fuel supply system, first switch off the ignition switch and then disconnect the cable of
batter negative pole.
d. When dismounting the oil tank parts, park the vehicle on a horizontal surface and the content in the tank
shall not exceed 3/4 of total volume. When disassemble the fuel tank components, the car shall be parked on
the level ground, and the fuel quantity in the fuel tank cannot exceed 3/4 of the total volume. If necessary,
exhaust the fuel tank.
e. If the fuel tank shall be open, be quick.
f. Skin shall not be in contact with fuel! Wear anti-fuel gloves
g. Fuel tank connection shall be reliable and there shall be no abnormal vibration.
h. Diesel shall be kept away from rubber or leather parts.
i. The connections of the oil pipes and the fittings and the oil tank outlets shall be solid and reliable and there
shall be no loosening or leakage.
j. Tubing shall be tightened with plastic ties and pipelines at a distance of about 250 mm inside the frame.
Special attention shall be paid to fixing the front end of the return pipe with a tank band to prevent it from
rubbing against the stringers.
k. The oil pipe when connecting with the fuel tank, fuel tank bracket and frame shall be added with the spiral
sheath for protection.
l. When entering the inner side of the frame, the oil pipe shall have the unified trend with the harness and the
brake pipe and keep the maximum distance with the wiring harness, and then it can be fixed.
m. The slight impress is allowed for the outer surface of the assembled oil pipe, but the defect damaging the
pipe is not allowed.
n. After the engine has finished working, the installation is prohibited within 30s as the fuel will leak under
high pressure.
2. Precautions for cleaning
a. Before disconnecting the connector, it is necessary to thoroughly clean the connector and its surrounding
area.
b. The dismounted parts shall be placed on a clean surface and covered. Do not use a rag with fine hair
c. If the service is not done immediately, the opened parts shall be covered or locked
d. Only clean parts can be installed. Take out the spare parts from the package only before installation. Loose
laid parts (such as in the tool box) shall not be used
