General check
1. Check the oil level
a. Park the vehicle on a level surface, turn off the engine
after warming up, and wait for more than 5 minutes.
b. Check whether the oil level is between the upper and
lower oil levels of the oil dipstick.
• Place a duster cloth under the end of the oil dipstick and
pull out the oil dipstick.
• Wipe the oil dipstick and reinsert the oil dipstick
completely.
• Pull out the oil dipstick and check the oil level.
2. Check the quality of the engine oil
a. Appearance identification.
• Pull out the oil dipstick to see whether the engine oil is
clear and transparent against the light and the ruler texture is
clearly visible. When the ruler texture cannot be seen
clearly through the oil on the dipstick or there are obvious
particulate impurities in the oil, it is shown that the oil is too
dirty, it is necessary to replace immediately.
b. Odor identification.
• Pull out the oil dipstick and smell the oil. Oil shall be
without special smell, only slightly fragrant. Any oil
stimulating the sense of smell and having peculiar smell is
spoilt or bad oil and shall be replaced immediately.
Caution
• If the smell of fuel (odor) is obvious, it indicates that
the oil is mixed with the fuel and the reason for the fuel
leakage needs to be checked.
• In smelling of the oil, the nose cannot be too close to the
oil, smelling the oil in long time is not allowed, just smell it.
c. Twisting identification.
• Remove a little oil and twist it on the finger. When
twisting, if there is a thick feeling and drawing
phenomenon, the oil has not deteriorated and can be used
again, otherwise, it shall be replaced.
Caution
After identification, wipe the oil on the finger
immediately.
