(c). Check the cam height.
Use the external micrometer to measure
the cam height at the position shown in the
figure.

If not within the specified range, replace

the camshaft.

(c). Check the axial clearance of the camshaft.
Use the external micrometer to measure
the cam height at the position shown in the

figure.
• Fit the camshaft to be inspected onto the
cylinder head.
• Fix the micrometer ① onto the cylinder
head using the general micrometer
bracket ② .

•Press the camshaft toward the

micrometer by hand.
• Set the micrometer at “0”.
•Press the camshaft in the reverse
direction and read the value:
Axial clearance: 0.15 ~ 0.27 mm

5. Install the camshaft
(a). Align the positioning pin on the exhaust
VVT with the slot on the exhaust camshaft.
PROMPT:
Apply a suitable amount of lubricating oil onto the
surface in contact with VVT.
