Foreword by the Vice Chancellor
Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi
Wabarakatuh and Greetings.
First of all, I would like to thank and congratulate everyone at
Universiti Malaya (UM) on UM’s outstanding achievements,
especially for claiming a spot in the list of top 100 universities
in the world for four consecutive years.
I am confident that this success is a planned process guided
by the Vision and Mission which act as clear goals to all UM
staff and students. It is a reflection of the collective values
and efforts that come from the UM community, be they the
academic, executive and operational staff or students. Such
effort would not bear fruit overnight and would never come
to fruition without the wholehearted cooperation and support
from one another.
In the endeavour to continue our tradition of excellence so
4 as to increase efficiency and productivity of UM staff, the
Management has implemented an action plan to improve the
Yearly Performance Assessment (KPI) method which is holistic
and in line with the objectives of the new UM Transformation
Plan. The adoption of P.O.I.S.E core elements (P.O.I.S.E
hereafter) in the assessment of university staff’s work
practices will enable this organisation to cultivate core values
effectively. It is hoped that this effort will support the Vision of
making Universiti Malaya a global university that impacts the
world.
Lastly, thank you for all the hard work of UM’s academic as
well as executive and operational staff for without you, UM will
not achieve the success that we enjoy today.
