Foreword by the Acting Registrar

Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh
and Greetings.

Core Values are principles or beliefs that an organisation expects of
its members and how they behave, which form the foundation and
practices that guide how they discharge their assigned duties and
tasks. In line with the implementation of Universiti Malaya’s New
Strategic Plan 2021-2025, the University’s new Core Values have also
been introduced: Passion, Oneness, Integrity, Sincerity and Empathy,
hence, P.O.I.S.E in brief.

P.O.I.S.E Core Values (NTP) ought to be appreciated, embraced and
internalised by every University staff and student so as to become a
way of life and everyone’s source of strength in realising UM’s vision of
becoming a global University which impacts the world.
With this, I would like to express my deepest appreciation and
6 gratitude to Task Force 11 (TF11) members who have been working
laboriously in helping the University develop and improve the existing
Yearly Performance Assessment (KPI) with the new KPI, which is more
thorough and comprehensive based on P.O.I.S.E elements.

I would also like to congratulate TF11 for successfully producing this
P.O.I.S.E Core Values Performance Management book as an initiative
in helping University staff and students understand and embrace the
practice of NTP. I am confident this P.O.I.S.E Core Values Performance
Management book will truly benefit everyone as a guide and reference
in providing services with absolute sincerity and commitment for the
sake of Universiti Malaya.
