Despite the fact that we cannot physically see the future
               punishment (awaiting the sinner), nevertheless every Jew

               “I believe with a complete belief that the Creator rewards those ןיִלוֹכְי וּנָא הֶזִּמ .

and it states in Kohelet (12:14) “because for all actions, Gd will
               bring a person to judgment,” and there are many other references
to this concept in our holy writings. How could man do this to
himself, to wantonly transgress these Laveen that are contingent
               on the power of one’s speech, that come about through bad habits
               after he has thought deeply about the fires of Gehinnom which
               have been stoked (for him).
Based on my understanding, this is what the Tanna is alluding
               to in Mishnayot Avot (Tamid 32a): “Who is called Chacham ירְֵבִדּ לַעְו הָוֲאַגּ ירְֵבִדּ לַעְו רקֶֶשׁ רוּבִּדּ לַעְו םיִנָפּ תַנָבְּלַה
               (wise)? (Answer) Someone who can see the consequences of
his actions.” Superficially, what does wisdom have to do with
                          8
               understanding the consequences of one’s actions?
               the meaning of this is as follows: to know the consequences of אלֶֹּשּׁ הַמ .)
his actions, every Jew knows and believes that if he follows
               the pathway of Hashem he will receive (a life that is) good and
               sweet. And if he (behaves in an) opposite way, he will receive .]
(a life that is) evil and bitter. However, this concept alone does
not affect his soul that much and so the Tanna offers some advice
to us, how to (make an impression on our souls) as though we
could physically see this. That is the meaning of the statement

               8. This statement is paraphrased in Avot and is brought down more literally
                  in Mishnayot Tamid (32a).
