 20. The donkey that opens the womb ·þBôÎìþÓ¬¥Óõe .×  they were afraid to come close to him. :î−ÞÖñÑê³ÓL'ÓbÌôe£êÐþ−ÞÌiÔî
 shall be redeemed with a sheep, í flÓNÐëí¤ÓcÐõÌz  31. Moshe called to them and they returned to him— î−§ÖñÑêeë«ŠLÖiÔîí flÓLô ·óÓíÑñÎêê¥ÖþКÌiÔî .êñ
 and if it is not redeemed, you must break its neck. B¢zÐõÔþμÞÔîí£ÓcÐõ̳ê'G-óÌêÐî  Aharon and all the leaders of the congregation— í¢ÖðѼÞÖaó−£ÌêÌNÐpÔí-ñÖ×ÐîöÒ'þÎíÞÔê
 [You must redeem all first-born of your sons, í flÓcÐõÌz ·E−·ÓòÖaþB¥×ÐañÒ¤k  and Moshe spoke to them. :óÞÓíÑñÎêí£ÓLô þ'ÑaÔðÐ−Ôî
 and you must not appear before Me empty-handed. :ó ÞÖš−Ñþ−£ÔòÖõeê'ÖþÞÑ−-êGÐî  32. After that, all the B’nei Yisrael came close [to him] ñ¢ÑêÖþÐNÌ−−¤ÑòÐa-ñÖke £LÐbÌòö'Ñ×-−ÑþÎìÞÔêÐ î .ëñ

                  For before they stretched out their hands  óÓí−ÑðÐ−e¬ÐLÖtêHÓLðÔ¼ÓL
 You shall redeem with a sheep.  .äÆNÀaäÆcÀôÄz
                      to commit sin (i.e., the Golden Calf)  íÖþ−ÑëμÖa
 He must give a sheep to the kohein  ,öÑíÒkÔñíÓNöѳBò

 The first-born of the donkey  þBôÎìþÓ¬Óõe  “And the vision of the Glory of God  ’í ðBëÐkíÑêÐþÔôe
          was like a consuming fire at the top of the mountain  þÖíÖíLêÒþÐa³ÓñÓ×ÒêLÑêÐk
 then is permitted to be used for work by the owner. 46  :ó−ÌñÖ¼ÐaÔñíÖðBëμÔaþÖzeô
                    before the eyes of the B’nei Yisrael,” 93  ZñÑêÖþÐNÌ−−ÑòÐa−Ñò−ѼÐñ
 You must break its neck.  .BzÀôÇøÇòÞÇå
                     and they had no fear nor trepidation.  ,ó−̼ÐïмÔcÐïÌôêGÐîó−ÌêÑþÐ−êGÐî
 He breaks its neck with a large knife. 47  ;±−ÌõBšÐëBõÐþB¼
                          But once they made the Calf,  ñÓèѼÖí³ÓêeNÖ¼ÓMÌôe
 He caused the kohein a monetary loss, 48  ,öÑíÒk öBôÖôð−̽ÐõÌí êeí
                           even from the rays of Moshe  íÓLô ñÓL BðBí −ÑòÐþÔwÌô¹Ôê
 therefore, he shall suffer a monetary loss.  49  :BòBôÖôðÔ½Ðõe− CÖ×−ÌõÐñ
                     they trembled and were frightened. 94  :ó−̼ÐïмÔcÐïÌôe ó−̼−ÌzÐþÔôe−Öí
 All the first-born among your sons  EéÆðÈa øBëÀaìÉk
                  [31] Leaders of the congregation— 95  .äÈãÅòÞÈaíéÄ àÄNÀpÇä [àì]
 you must redeem.  .äÆcÀôÄz
                                     is the same as  BôÐk
 His redemption is set at five sela’im,  ,ëe®Öš BòB−ÐðÌtó−̼ÖñнíÖMÌôÎì
               íÖðѼÖí−Ñê−ÌNÐò—“ the leaders of the Congregation.”  :íÖðѼÖí−Ñê−ÌNÐò
 as it is said:  þÔôÍêÓpÓL
                       And Moshe spoke to them— 96  .íÞÆäÅìÂàäÆLî øÅaÇãÀéÇå
 “Those that are to be redeemed  îÖ−eðÐõe
 you shall redeem from a month old.” 50  :íÓcÐõÌzLÓðÒìöÓaÌ ô  the message of God. 97  ,óBšÖôñÓL B³eì−ÌñÐL
       Thus this entire subject is in the present (ongoing) tense. 98  :íÓfÔíöÖ−Ðò̼ÖíñÖk êeí íÓîÒí öBLÐñe
 And you must not appear before Me  éÇðÈôeàÈøÞÅéàGÀå
                     [32] After that, they came close.  .eLÀbÄðïÅë-éÅøÂçÞÇàÀå [áì]
 empty-handed. 51  .íÞÈ÷éÅø
                         [I.e.], after he taught the elders  ,ó−ÌòÑšÐfÔñðÑnÌlÓLþÔìÔê
 According to the plain meaning of the verse  êÖþКÌôñÓL B¬eLÐõ−ÌÌõÐñ
                       he would again teach that section  íÖLÖþÖtÔíðÑnÔñÐôe þÑïBì
 this is independent [of the first part of the verse]  ,êeí BôЮԼ−ÑòÐõÌaþÖëÖc
                              or that law to all Yisrael.  .ñÑêÖþÐNÌ−ÐñíÖ×ÖñÎíÔíBê
 and does not refer back to the first-born,  Z þB×ÐaÔíñÔ¼ëÖ½eô Bò−ÑêÐî
                               The Sages have taught:  ,öÖòÖaÔþeòÖz
 for there is no requirement in the mitzvah of þB×Ða  þB×Ða³ÔîЮÌôÐaö−ÑêÓL
            What was the order of the teaching of the Torah?  ?íÖòÐLÌnÔíþÓðѽðÔ®−Ñk
 to appear before God,  Zó−ÌòÖt³−ÔiÌêÐþ
 but, rather,  êÖlÓê  Moshe would learn from the Almighty.  ;íÖþeëÐbÔí−ÌtÌôðÑôÖñíÖ−ÖííÓLô
                            Then Aharon would enter  ,öÒþÎíÔê½ÔòÐ×Ìò
 it is an admonition concerning something else:  ,ê−Ìí³ÓþÓìÔêíÖþÖíÐïÔê
