Hope all had a good Thanksgiving, I know we ate too much and had a good
time, especially with a Cowboy win! And another on Nov 29! Those wins and the fact that your district has a plus in membership for the year and good signs! I do have some New Member kits available if you need them.
I enjoyed the visits to the Ennis Host Lions and the Dallas Founders Lions last month. We also participated in the LSTF Bowling Tournament and the UT Southwest Transplant Services Thanksgiving events in November. It was good to see our lions participating. If you didn’t, please plan on next year. When can I visit your club?
I also attended the fall Council of Governors meeting in Temple where the Texas Lions endorsed PID Lion Patty Hill from Edmonton for 3rd International VP at the Milan LCI convention. She gave a rousing talk to the assembled Lions and is going to be a good representative for Lionism. I encourage all to vote for her in Milan.
I was also invited to participate on a panel at the Toastmasters District Convention on How Non-Profits use PR to advertise and recruit members. It was refreshing to hear the Rotary and Toastmasters have the same issues we do in recruiting members.
Plan on attending the Mid-Winter Conference in Duncanville on January 12th. While there will be a registration fee, we plan to have a good program and some informative breakout sessions. PCC TJ Tijerina will be our featured speaker. I know the Duncanville Lions will host a good meeting.
Thanks for the response to the disasters over the last couple of years. We are in the process if wrapping up the District assistance for Hurricane Harvey. Now we are asked to assist in the recovery for the California Wildfires. Please see the letter (Page 5) and do what you can for these devastating events. Texas did have a nice response from the California Lions for our problems last year. (Continued Page 4)
