This has been a hectic month, Feast of Sharing at Fair Park, IRS filings due, District Peace posted, and Club’s Audit Report. I would like to congratulate each club that I visited for letting me know about the community projects that your club participates in.
The District along with the Garland Evening Club mourns the recent passing of our member, Lion Neil Roach. He was an active and faithful member and participant at the Garland Evening Lions Club, Lions Sight & Tissue Foundation, New Camp Horizon, and many others. Lion Neil will be greatly missed.
The District Leo Chairperson Lion Prakash Gautam along with Zone 1 Chairperson T J Johnson has organized three new Leo Clubs within the last four months. Lion Prakash has formed a District 2X-1 Leo Council that will be installed at Mid-Winter on January 20, 2017, so please save the date. Leo, Campus, and Branch Clubs are our Minor League Clubs and 2X-1's future. If we coach and train them we will have a good district in the future. We need to energize them and encourage them to become Lions after school and as they move to different parts of the world.
The Governor’s team would like to invite your Leo team to Mid-Winter on January 20, 2017, they will have breakout sessions and much more.
I would like for you to pay particular attention to drops in membership. Let’s determine why our members are leaving our clubs.
Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers during my hospital stay. I am at home now recovering and undergoing therapy.
