IMPLEMENTATION OF
               PROJECT



      Objectives                         1.      To improve the knowledge of the participants in the science and technol
                                                 ogy behind an aquaponic system as farming system.
                                         2.      To increase awareness of environmental issues such as the effect of
                                                 chemical fertilizer in soil quality during traditional farming, impact of
                                                 hazardous waste technology and other issues such as global warming
                                                 and sustainability.
                                         3.      To increase agripreneurship passion and potential of the young generat-
                                                 ion by equipping them with the right skills and knowledge on the working
                                                 mechanism and setting up of aquaponic system.

      Methodology                        1.     Hands-on training (70%) and class-room teaching (30%).
                                         2.     Industrial visit.
                                         3.     Exhibition.
      Activities Conducted               1.     Introduction and hands-on construction of basic aquaponic system at UMP
                                                (31 May 2014). Follow up activities (monitoring) was held on on  28
                                                June 2014.
                                         2.     Hands-On Training & construction of Farming System using Aquaponic in
                                                Al-Irsyad Islamic School (27 September 2014) Followed up activities (moni-
                                                toring) on 28 October 2014.
                                         3.     Hands-on training on setting up three (3) different aquaponic systems for
                                                three different applications (1 November 2014). Follow up visit was cond-
                                                ucted on 25 December 2014.
                                         4.     Initial exposure of community members to miniaturized model of aquapo-
                                                nic (10 March 2015).
                                         5.     Installation of aquaponic utilizing agricultural waste for increased environ-
                                                mental awareness (June 2015).
                                         6.     Aquaculture hatchery system (22 August 2015).
                                         7.     Workshop with farmers from IADA Pekan on 15th October 2015.
                                         8.     International Conference on Knowledge Transfer on 1-3rd December
                                                2015
                                         9.     International Exhibition on Agriculture, Aquaculture & Environment Cluster
                                                of Pecipta 2015 in KLCC on 4-6th December 2015.                  60
                                         10.    Training & installation of solar-powered aquaponic system for entreprene-
                                                urship activities (26th March 2016).
                                         11.    Practising agropreneurship within school and local community by mainta-
                                                ining and selling aquaponic product (June 2016).
                                         12.    Awareness of Azolla sp biomass as high nitrogen feedstock for 7 systems
                                                (August 2016).
      Output
      Industry                           1.      Improved knowledge and understanding of the working principles and
                                                 the benefits of aquaponic for the community.
                                         2.      Community members acquired the skills to setup and troubleshoot
                                                 various aquaponic system based on individual needs or products that
                                                 need to be achieved.
                                         3.      The school community partner now has FOUR (4) units of 1,000 litre of fish
                                                 tanks and NINE (9) mini food production system using aquaponic that
                                                 produce fresh fruits and vegetables (tomato) and fish (tilapia or catfish).
                                         4.      Selected (30) members of the school community have been trained and
                                                 learned about aquaculture hatchery system and the potential applicati-
                                                 on for agro entrepreneurship.
                                         5.      Ten (10) students have experienced / practiced agri entrepreneurship or
                                                 business activities from fabricating their own aquaponic system to selling
                                                 the fresh organic produced.
