Communication
Roskilde TOWER (TWR) has 2 frequencies and the emergency frequency of
121.500, which is constantly monitored at Roskilde Airport.
ATIS is a frequent where the latest MET REPORT is continuously transmitted.
This has the advantage that TWR and APP do not have to constantly brief arriving
or departing aircraft about wind and weather on the frequency used for
communication; the pilot is supposed to monitor ATIS before contacting
Roskilde APP or TWR.
Roskilde Handling is listed at the bottom of the list of frequencies. This is the
Airport office that you can reach on this frequency. The Airport Office provides
assistance with flight plans and marshaling services, if needed.
Now you have seen how easy it is to find the “air telephone numbers” or
frequencies for service units we use during flights.
4.4.3 Frequencies
The frequencies start at 118,000 MHz. Since 2021, it has
been a requirement that there is an 8.33 KHz channel
spacing between the frequencies.
But since there are only 3 decimal places in aircraft radios,
we cannot always set the frequency completely correctly.
In the list here you can see which channel corresponds to
which frequency.
And so on up to and including 136,990 MHz.
So maybe you can work out how many “telephone
numbers” there are in the air? If you got 2280, you have
been good at calculating it. That will be a thin phone book
– 2280 numbers can be on 3 pages!
