Operational procedures

Once everything is adjusted, you need to make sure

that the seat is also locked in the slide rail.

During the Pre-Flight Inspection, you can check

whether everything is as it should be.

Fatal accidents have occurred due to worn seat rails and pawls that have not

gone down into the hole in the rail to lock the seat in position.

When the plane accelerates during takeoff, the pilot's seat suddenly moves

backward, with the result that the pilot pulls the steering wheel backward and
thereby stalls the plane. Cessna aircraft in particular can have this problem.

The seat must also be adjusted so that passengers do not prevent the controls
from being moved to the full extent.

In the event of an emergency, seats must be in the “most upright” position.

                6.6.1.2 Seat belts

Ensure that passengers are fastened in their seatbelts during the flight.

Seatbelts must be worn throughout the flight and may only be unfastened if

                necessary for operational reasons.

Show passengers how to unfasten their seatbelts. There may not be time to do

                this in an emergency.

Children under 2 years of age are not counted in the number of passengers.

They must not be fastened in a seatbelt with an adult. However, an adult may

hold a child under 2 years of age.
