Operational procedures
6.5.1.2 Noise limitation procedures
NCO.OP.120 Airplanes and helicopters. The commander shall take into account
published procedures for noise limitation in order to minimize the impact of
aircraft noise, while ensuring that safety considerations are given higher priority
than noise abatement.
6.5.1.3 Heavy fines for making noise
Practice in recent years shows that violating noise regulations can lead to fines
in the order of DKK 20,000-30,000.
Since 2004, a number of airlines have been fined for violations in connection
with takeoffs and landings at Copenhagen Airport in Kastrup.
6.5.1.4 Noise certificate
You may find a “noise certificate” in connection with the aircraft’s documents.
Especially when flying in Germany, it is important that you bring this document
with you to the airport office when you must pay the takeoff fee – you will get
away with about half of it.
6.5.2 Noise in connection with takeoffs and landings
The noisiest activity at an airport is when the aircraft take off. This takes place
at low altitude and at full throttle.
Many airports have special departure routes so that you can vary your
departure so that as many people as possible can “enjoy” the sound of the
plane. Climb with Vy and get away from the area as quickly as possible.
The landing phase is often less noisy because the engine is almost idling during
the approach.
