Operational procedures
6.4.6.1 Engine stop
The next page shows a drawing showing the procedures in the training aircraft
in the event of an Engine stop during flight.
First and foremost:
- fly the aircraft
- maintain altitude
- establish the best glide speed (on the training aircraft (Cessna 271) it is 65
Kt).
Once this is done, select a
place/area for landing.
If the propeller is stationary and
the engine is mechanically stuck,
then perform an emergency
landing
If the propeller is still turning and there is time, try to restart (follow the
procedure shown with the green line):
1) Start at the bottom of the cabin where the fuel selector is. Set it to the
BOTH position.
2) Then grab the Mixture lever and press it in so that the mixture becomes
"RICH".
3) The throttle is pumped and set 2-3 centimeters in, so that the fuel/air
mixture is opened to the cylinders.
4) Then the carburetor heat must be ON.
5) Check that the magnetos are on BOTH, if necessary, test the LEFT and
RIGHT positions.
