9.8 The navigation computer CRP1W and CRP1
Now we have come to the point where we need to calculate the flight time. For
this purpose, you need a flight computer – a navigation computer.
With it, you can quickly calculate, for example, the influence of the wind, the
time the flight will take, fuel consumption, etc.
Below you will first find an introduction to the computer. Then there are
explanations of the computer's most used functions. Finally, a few exercises with
the most common functions have been completed.
We will use both sides of the computer. The computer has a slider. It is used
together with the wind side (page 2).
9.8.1 The scale side
Here we will first look at the scale side (page 1). This side is used without the use
of a slider.
The side has:
- A fixed scale - the distance
scale
- A rotatable scale - the
time scale (in minutes).
The 60-minute mark on
the time scale is called the
speed index (or the hour
mark).
