   3. Strategic benchmarking: in general, strategic
   benchmarking examines how companies can compete
   successfully.

      In other words benchmarking in QSR's can be defined on
the basis that it is “the process of improving restaurant
performance by continuously identifying, understanding, and
adapting outstanding practices and processes found inside and
outside the property”. Benchmarking is not a goal in itself,
benchmarking is a technique to achieve that goal.

2-4-7 The International Organization for Standardization
(ISO)

      The international organization for standardization (ISO) is
a worldwide federation of national standards bodies from some
130 countries, one from each country. ISO is a non-
governmental organization established in 1947. The mission of
the ISO is to promote the development of standardization and
related activities in the world with a view to facilitating the
international exchange of goods and services, and to developing
cooperation in the spheres of intellectual, scientific,
technological and economic activity.
