IT Preparation
Contact IT Help Desk to determine specific items you should have/processes you should be aware of
Back up all electronic data and store in wind-and water-protected site.
Food Safety Preparation
Arrange for dry ice delivery prior to closure to help maintain product temperature.
People
Affected ROD/ROM to provide list of locations in the path of the storm, as well as local GM contact
information to the Crisis Team Leader.
GM to collect contact information for all Team Members and take it with him/her when he/she exits the
building; provide copy to all Managers.
The Crisis Team will activate the Emergency Message Center.
Vendor/Partner Notification
Obtain contact information for local vendors: Generators, Dry Ice, Dehumidifiers and Catastrophic
Cleanup Company.
Notify property managers with scheduled closing and reopening information along with emergency
contact information.
Safety Preparation
Inspect all fire protection equipment such as sprinkler control valves and fire pumps.
Inspect all medical first aid supplies and replenish if necessary.
WHEN A WARNING IS ISSUED
Monitor and Plan
Continue to monitor local TV and radio stations for instructions and up-to-date information.
Move out of evacuation zones early if told to do so by officials. This may mean moving up your board-
up/close the store down.
Have cash on hand for post-hurricane needs; e.g., buying food and supplies or paying Team Members
and contractors.
Prepare Building
Store important documents in the safe.
Bring all outside patio furniture into the store.
Turn off circuit breakers and unplug all electronic equipment except for the undercounter refrigerators,
freezer, walk-in cooler, outside lights, fire suppression system and alarm.
Disconnect the main electrical, if possible, to prevent a potential fire caused by short circuiting of
damaged equipment.
Ensure deposits are made to armored car to minimize amount of cash in building.
Cover all electronic equipment with tarpaulins and waterproof covers in case of roof leaks. This
includes computers, stereo, etc.
Secure and protect all games (cover with tarp), billiards and shuffleboard tables, merchandise, etc.
Close water and gas mains. If you do not have a separate meter in your building, contact your landlord
