 Review Y5 teaching on adjectives.

 More practice on using comparative and superlative adjectives.

 Using a thesaurus to find interesting adjectives.

            Way to Work (Means)

                1. Review previous lessons.

                2. Discuss the use of adjectives in sentences.

Draw a plus sign, a syringe and a gift box on the board to remind the children
of past teaching. An adjective adds detail, injects interest and gives
                    information.

                       +

                              add inject give

                3. Write a simple sentence on the board to which each child could add adjectives
in their rough books. They could use a thesaurus, if time allows.

E.g. The swimmer waded into the river.
The energetic, well-trained swimmer waded into the deep, muddy
                                  river.

                4. Let the children share their adjectives.

                5. Remind them of comparative and superlative adjectives.

E.g. The boy was taller than his brother.
The boy was the tallest in the class.
