After dinner, Mrs. McDaniel and Alonzo return to the living room for the
business at hand.
“Funny you should ask ...” with a smirk. “... I was wondering when you would
ask.”
“Sounds like you have been longing for this talk,” Alonzo looks more curious.
Mrs. McDaniel gets up and walks toward a well-crafted frame -- hanging -- East wing
of the living room. “Alonzo … Do you believe in the supernatural?”
Alonzo gets up -- walks up to her -- stops and takes a good, and long look at
picture in the frame. It’s Brent's picture. An eerie feeling -- inspiring an unexpected -
- sends chill up his spine. A strange and startling sensation, that's so surreal, that he
bouts to regain his composure. “Yes, Connie.”
“How exactly did you know my Brent?”
“I didn't, except for the day of my interview.”
She gasps in disbelief. “Interview?” her left eyebrow rises, in incredulity, at
his response.”
“Yes, last Wednesday.”
“You do realize my Brent was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver, a
couple of months ago.”
“My condolences, Connie. I didn't know, but it's all coming together to me.”
