make of it.” She continues, “You could not imagine my state of mind ...” meekly sips

“I bet you must have been frightened as I were.”
“To say the least. I felt his presence ...” stares at picture. “... As though we were
talking via the PC screen. “
In a moment, “would you like me to freshen your glass?” delicately offering to
refill her glass.
“No, thank you,” shakes her head. “I have had my fill for the day.”
“What was your next course of action?”
“The next day, I asked Debra to get me your file ...” sips her tea. “... And what
she thought of you.” “Next, I consulted with Jeff. He confided you were first on his list
of top five candidates.” A couple of sniffles, “excuse me,” and she turns toward the

“Thank you, dear.” Then she turns to Alonzo, “and that was how you got the

your favor.”
