The Next Day
ALONZO'S OFFICE: CONFERENCE AREA
Alonzo places his padfolio and the copy of Jessica's mini report on his
conference table -- in preparation for his 9:00 AM, meeting.
A few minutes later -- as expected -- JORDAN, 34, light-skinned African-
American male, and wearing a single-breasted brown suit, knocks gently and sticks
his head in. “Good morning, Mr. Thomas.”
“Good morning, Jordan. Please, come on in.”
Jordan's one of Alonzo's direct report. With an iPad in hand, he steps in.
Alonzo gets up, steps around his desk, and walks to meet him; then extends
his right hand. “Good morning, Jordan” smiles. “You may call me Alonzo.”
Visibly nervous, “Yes, Alonzo,” Jordan reciprocates with a firm handshake.
“I have coffee, tea, and cold beverage. Which would you prefer?”
“None. I'm quite alright.”
“Sure? We're going to be here for an hour, or so.” He walks with Jordan, shows
him the icebox and Beverage Center, and later, makes two cups of hot tea. Then,
“Here you go ... The condiments are in the rack to the left.” “Prefer mine just plain.”
“Thank you,” takes the saucer and cup of tea.
