Section 6. To be a candidate for advisor to an undergraduate
chapter, immediately prior to her election, a Soror shall have been a
member of the graduate chapter for at least two years; shall not have
been suspended for hazing; shall be at least a five-year graduate from
an undergraduate college or university program; must have attended
one of the last two Boules or one of the last two Regional Conferences;
and, be certified by the Directorate-approved Alpha Kappa Alpha
Sorority, Incorporated, Graduate Advisor Certification Program.
Alpha Kappa Omega Chapter shall prepare a written list of all Sorors
both qualified and willing to serve as advisors to an undergraduate
chapter. Each undergraduate chapter shall identify to Alpha Kappa
Omega Chapter, in writing, the Sorors on the list preferred by the
chapter, in order of preference. Alpha Kappa Omega will then elect the
graduate advisor(s) from each undergraduate chapter’s list.
Section 7. Chapter officers shall be elected in November and
installed at the close of the December meeting.
Section 8. All chapter officers shall be bonded.
ARTICLE V: DUTIES AND POWERS OF OFFICERS
Section 1. The BASILEUS shall:
A. Preside at all meetings of the chapter and the Executive Committee.
B. Perform the duties which are usually executed by the chief officer.
C. Appoint committee chairpersons, with the approval of the Executive
Committee, and may appoint members of all committees. Fill
vacancies, except as otherwise provided by the bylaws.
D. Appoint special committees as deemed necessary.
